Rochester Women’s Community Chorus (RWCC) Concert to Benefit Eldersource

Apr. 15, 2009

RWCC Concert to Benefit Eldersource – June 6th at 7:30pm at Hochstein School of Music

The Rochester Women’s Community Chorus June concert, “Sentimental Journey,” will benefit Rochester’s Eldersource, a joint venture of Lifespan and the Catholic Family Center to provide non-medical support service to older adults and their caregivers.

Eldersource has been endorsed by the County of Monroe as “the one phone number” (325-2800) the single source of information to call for help on elder care issues since 1999. Eldersource was also designated by the United Way as the single information and referral number for older adult services. The mission of Eldersource is to keep individuals independent in the community by providing them with information, guidance, care management and choice in the navigation of the long term care system and other elder care issues.

Eldersource also has several other programs serving Monroe County including Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORC). The intent of the NORC is to establish programs based on assessed community needs and to involve seniors and decision makers when developing the program. The Professional Assessment and Treatment of Homebound Seniors (PATHS) program provides in-home counseling to homebound older adults experiencing depression or anxiety that interferes with daily activities. Senior Health and Research Alliance (SHARE) links Eldersource to the University of Rochester Psychiatry Department to provide a more seamless system of care for older adults with depression and/or other mental health problems. Eldersource also provides service coordination at the 14 Rochester Housing Authority’s buildings.

The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. June 6 at Hochstein School of Music. The RWCC rehearsals are held each Tuesday night from 6:30-8:45 at the Downtown United Presbyterian Church at 121 No. Fitzhugh St. in downtown Rochester.

If you are interested in volunteering in a non-singing capacity, or want ticket information, please call the RWCC music line at (585) 234-4441 and leave a message or reply via e-mail at www.therwcc.org
